Everyone who steps off the riverbank and looks at the river inevitably thinks about the passage of time. The waters flow with time, but the contours of the banks are somewhat more constant. These contours, and what grows and forms around them, constitute history (time will rewrite it more than once, but not so quickly). History is shaped not only by people with their technologies, values, and culture, but also by the soil, the river's flow, the flora and fauna, and the force of the wind. This cannot be forgotten.
The Quebec slogan "Je me souviens" (I remember) takes on a new interpretation in this context. It becomes an indication of the need to remember that it is not only people who create the world, but also of responsibility: when we create the environment, we must consider all the inhabitants of a place. Only in this way can we create an attractive landscape and ensure the sustainable development of the area in the future.
